This is a tragic outcome and odd circumstances from the Dakar Rally. Two British rally drivers were seriously injured as well but this is very strange indeed.

French rider Pascal Terry has been found dead at the Dakar rally, the event’s organisers said on Wednesday.

The 49-year-old, competing in the event with a bike for the first time, had been missing since Sunday’s second stage.

According to organisers, Terry’s body was found in a very remote area and 15 meters away from his bike. The Frenchman had removed his helmet and had food and water near him.

Argentinean police is to start an investigation to determine the cause of his death.

Terry becomes the 26th competitor to lose his life during the Dakar rally.

Didn’t they move the Dakar to South America because it was going to be “safer” for the participants?

I guess the rally creators cannot stop people getting lost….unless this was some kind of terrorist murder which is not what it is…guy just screwed up…sad really
