China plays wrong anthem

Woops! Unfortunately someone in China has not yet pirated a copy of the Austrian National Anthem. They have pirated DVD’s of about every movie made including ones that haven’t been made yet but they couldn’t come up with a copy of the Austrian national Anthem? Embarrassing. I wonder what Der Seb and Webbo were thinking as they listened to a rousing rendition of God save the Queen.

Apr.19 (GMM) Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber had just secured an historic one-two debut victory for the team, but Red Bull’s motorsport advisor Helmut Marko said one element of Sunday’s proceedings left him distinctly “disappointed”.

After German winner Vettel mouthed the final words of the ‘Das Deutschlandlied’ on the podium, Austrian Marko then prepared to bask in the national pride of the Austrian anthem.

‘Land der Berge, Land am Strome’ in Austrian means ‘Land of the mountains, land on the river’, sang to the melody of a 1790s song by the composer Johann Holzer.

Red Bull, owned by the Austrian energy drink magnate Dietrich Mateschitz, competes under a racing license by the Austrian motor racing authority OAMTC, the Osterreichischer Automobil, Motorrad und Touring Club.

However, to mark the victory of the winning constructor, the loudspeakers of the Shanghai International Circuit instead exclaimed God Save the Queen, apparently because Red Bull is based in Milton-Keynes (UK), while team boss Christian Horner is British.

When Speed TV showed the FIA Constructor standings at the end of the broadcast, Red Bull Racing was listed with a British flag, along with McLaren, Williams, and Braun GP.

Brits want to win it all…..

Yeah. Noticed that too. Toyota’s HQ is located in cologne. Hopefully, we’ll hear the japanese anthem on glock’s maiden win in august.

I did think to myself ‘didn’t realise they were classed as a British outfit’

Wake up guys the British anthem was played because that is the location of the team. No mistake made, only yours in not knowing the rules……………

Perhaps a freudian slip? This dirgey tune is, after all, the national anthem of Lichtenstein as well and we all know that’s where all the money goes.

Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the (air) waves!
