As if Webbo needs a reason to get a beer with Rossi
Grand Prix Drivers’ Association director and fastest pit lane hustler since Juan Pablo Montoya Mark Webber is planning to consult MotoGP riders about nighttime rain racing ahead of F1’s field trip to Singapore in September.
You may remember the season opener for MotoGP in Qatar was moved from Sunday to Monday after it rain too hard for them to ride under the flood lights and cause LORIS Capirossi to racing on a Monday for the first time in his over 280 starts.
Webber is hoping that the MotoGP rider could offer some insight into the danger of the F1 cars running under similar conditions.
Besides, they might pay the Fosters bill at the end of the night.
Webbo:
I haven’t spoken to any of the riders, but probably before Singapore I will. It looks like those guys could not run at all. I was surprised, but they are like us. They will race if they can, and if they can’t they won’t. The glare must have been very difficult and they are in a situation where they could go a day later, which was a nice luxury to have. I’m not sure we could do that in Singapore.
There are not many to come in the rest of the year. Melbourne was more of a concern than Malaysia for us. It was a problem because of the rain and we are in constant contact with the FIA. I’m sure we will work out what to do.
