You know I hear USF1XYZ is looking for a chassis

Lola has withdrawn its application to enter Formula 1 in 2010 after it received word that it wasn’t one of the top three to be selected for the initial 2010 entry list. Because we totally didn’t want to be in your series anyway!

Lola statement:

Lola F1 Team Ltd has today advised the FIA of the decision to withdraw its application to enter the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship. Significant financial investment has been made in producing its 2010 contender and the FIA had requested that the Lola F1 Team remain in a state of readiness for a possible future entry. Lola F1 Team has thanked the FIA for giving its application to enter the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship serious consideration.

It’s better that Lola does this(withdraw) now rather than on the grid at the beginning of the season like they did last time they tried to enter F1. I don’t know about anyone else but I expected this from Lola.

Early favorite for next week’s Matt B. award.

Easy to imagine the backroom at Lola F1 Team HQ:

“Those bastards at FIA, and that bastard Max. And that troll Bernie. They’ve been stringing us along. This is worse than what Ferrari did to Ford.”

“I know, sir, I know, but we can’t just come out and *say* that.”

“Oh, yeah, Mr. I-spent-a-week-doing-PR-for-Ron-Dennis, well what do you propose?”

“How about: Lola F1 Team has thanked the FIA for giving its application to enter the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship serious consideration.”

    “Fine. Whatever.”
