This team was in F1 for four season and left due to high costs. It had one win in a championship race. It later returned to the series nearly two decades later as a supplier of engines to a team that is currently in F1 and had tremendous success. They left the sport again only to return nearly a decade later to miserable results.

Good guess but not who I am looking for on this one.
could be Porsche, who supplied Mclaren in the eighties and tried again with an orrific engine for Arrows in the 90′es??
