Alguersuari gets nod for Hungary debut

I guess this means I have to officially learn how to pronounce his last name then. Scuderia Toro Rosso has officially replaced Sebastien Bourdais with 19 year old Jaime Alguersuari for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
STR has decided to give the kid a race seat as it is now the only way to get young talent some seat time, thanks to the in-season testing ban.
The young pup also brings Repsol money with him which can’t hurt.
I also love that the Sebastien Loeb rumor has yet to die if for no other reason that it continues the Team Seb routine.

Well i guess we can definitely view Bourdais as a possible no. 2 for an Alonso led Ferrari! =P
But in all seriousness, does this mean that they’re pulling him out for the rest of 2009 or just out of the Hungary GP (that might sound stupid… i do realise that much)? And wont there be penalties for Torro Rosso for breach of contract with Bourdais which is what i would assume this is?
If STR were smart about their contract with Bourdais, there would have been a performance clause that allows them to remove him as a driver. I’d hoped that Bourdais would have a better season this year, especially seeing how quick the RBR cars are. I’m not surprised by this move, but I think STR is looking in the wrong direction for improvement. They’re hoping to catch lightning in a bottle again like they did with Vettel, but really the main problem lies with the engineering aspect of the team. Although Buemi has outperformed Bourdais this season, neither driver has really been a threat to make it to Q2 on a regular basis let alone Q3.
Note to Grace:
Just call him Jaime “Sebastian”, and we will get it… :)
Jamie Al will do.
I watched some British F3 last year and the presenter there pronounced it as Al-jer-swaa-ree. Some say it could be Al-gwer-swaa-ree. Horses for courses it seems.
Bourdais had a second chance, after being destroyed by wonderboy Vettel.. this year he has no excuses, he had to outperform Buemi to stay in f1 but in general also Buemi, a debutant was better.
Even if he still deny having been fired, we have seen on tv during the race his emotional good bye with Ascanelli.
There are plenty of good drivers pushing to race in f1, and Bourdais has shown this year not to deserve a place in f1.
