Schumacher not interested in F1 return

Michael Schumacher was on the pitwall for Ferrari this weekend at the German Grand Prix as a show of support for his old team. He also took a moment to answer questions for the BBC about his desire to come back to the sport:

“If I would have wanted to work, I had the options, and may even now have the options,” he told the BBC. “But right now, it is not what I am looking for.

“I haven’t had the need of the adrenaline all these years,” he said. “What I’m doing now is for the pure pleasure.

“When you’re inside you’re so deeply involved in the details and I’m certainly not because I don’t want to dedicate the time for it,” he added.

Can you blame him? If I had a wife, kids, place in the Swiss hills and the means to live according to his lifestyle I don’t think I would be wanting to climb back in to a car any time soon.

  1. Downforce says:

Michael Schumacher in 2006/2007 had a net worth of estimated $800 million
In his top earning year he was second only to Tiger Woods at around $70+ million not including external endorsements.
He certainly does not need to race for monetary reasons.
He may have the means to do whatever he wants.

  2. He is still making money without racing, he is a legend, comes a time when you feel the need to retired and enjoy all the money you make, in his case A LOT :)
