N.Tech decision expected by week’s end

Given Peter Windsor’s comments about Cosworth engines to F1B this week, the timing here is interesting.

Autosport is reporting that the decision on N.Tech’s lawsuit against the FIA over the process to decide which new teams would be on the grid — and that those teams were required to use Cosworth engines — will be out by the end of the week. And Autosport says it is being rejected across the board.

I post this piece of news mostly, as noted above, because of the timing with Windsor’s comments.

Here is the Autosport piece:

The official verdict of N.Technology’s legal action against Formula 1’s ruling body, the FIA, will be made public later this week.

N.Technology had filed legal action against the FIA earlier this year as it believed there had been irregularities in the selection process for next teams for the 2010 season.

N.Technology’s case was heard in Paris last month, and although AUTOSPORT understands all of team’s claims have been rejected, the official verdict will not be released until later this week.

The Italian team squad was hoping to get one of the slots available for next year, but the FIA awarded them to Campos Meta, US F1 and Manor Grand Prix.

N.Technology withdrew its application after what it branded as a “highly questionable process” by the FIA.

AUTOSPORT contacted the FIA for comment, but the governing body declined to do so until after the official verdict is made public.

If Autosport is correct, I’d suspect that would make any effort by Windsor, who is heading up USF1, or others to force a Qabak-Sauber team to use Cosworth engines (and not Ferrari lumps as is being rumored) far more difficult. It also would seem to clear the way for Renault to sell its team and continue supplying engines to it (and Red Bull).

Same for Toyota, if it were not saying it is 100% out, no chance of a sale of the “team” to another party.

Is anyone surprised the decision, apparently, would go in the FIA’s favor?
