Brawn advises Button to stay

Ross Brawn has advised Jenson Button that he should stay at Mercedes GP (formerly known as Brawn GP).

In light of the Guardian newspaper’s announcement on Tuesday placed Button in a deal with McLaren, it seems that Brawn doesn’t think this is the case:
“Negotiations (with Button) are continuing and the reports that he has already agreed terms with McLaren are not helpful,” he told the Independent newspaper on Wednesday. “I would be amazed if that were the case.
“His best future is with our team, where he has a good group around him, and there’s a lot to be said for that.
“The logical thing would be for him to stay with us, but of course logic doesn’t always prevail.”
Button’s possible move may have more to do with financial compensation than anything else and the daunting task of teaming up with 24-year-old Lewis Hamilton can’t be marginalized. Many believe that Button will be out of his class going head-to-head with Hamilton including former commentator Murray Walker:
“I don’t think it’s the right move from his point of view, except financially,” he said. “To be thoroughly provocative, I’m not sure that Button could keep up with Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren.”
So has he signed a deal with McLaren? Will the team become the all-British Formula 1 team? The details of the deal are said to be in the process of getting ironed out with Button’s managers but in the mean time Brawn thinks the move is nonsensical. And why shouldn’t he feel that way? Button would be the top driver at Mercedes/Brawn GP but will face fierce competition at McLaren. The kind of competition that could be career-ending to be frank.

I would believe Brawn more than a newspaper regarding the truth to Buttons negotiations with McLaren.
He’s not listening. I’m not too bothered by his departure as he seems blinded by cash.
