I was under the impression that Mercedes purchased a 45% stake in Brawn (a Middle East conglomerate owns the rest) which gives them a large stake in the team, but not outright ownership.

And welcome Victoria!

Thanks for the welcome, Williams4Ever!
I agree that there is always excitement during the off-season, but there was a general sense in some quarters that (even after Brazil) the season was over and there was no point in paying too close attention. You and I and the other F1B readers know better, but some might not.

PeterRiva, you also have a good point, but I think Mercedes has already been burned enough with illegal Ferrari material, and they're likely to be far more careful with what great info is in Brawn's head than they could be. Also, Mercedes had a much better 2009 season than Ferrari, and material that is at least three years old will likely not help all that much, particularly with the rules changes between now and then.

Looking forward to continued discussion with all the F1B readers!

Let's add one more thing to Mercedes list of why they want to buy Brawn... Ferrari insider technology in mfg. Ross is intimately familiar with that as he was there and helped design the F1 engine plant. Forget the 50 page fax, Ross has it all in his head.
