Schumacher return ‘not up for debate’

The former 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher has been named in various rumors as returning to the sport with the new Mercedes GP (formerly Brawn GP). While the thought of a return has excited many fans, it seems unlikely according to his personal publicist Sabine Kehm:
“Michael is enjoying his life. A return to Formula 1 is not a subject for debate at the moment,” said Kehm.
“For me, a return would be highly unlikely at the moment.”

While the return to the former glory days with team boss Ross Brawn and Mercedes may fan the flame of rekindled passion, it doesn’t actually sound feasible in my opinion as Schumacher is contracted to Ferrari as a consultant that more than likely prevents him from driving for other teams. Of course that is a huge assumption on my part but you can imagine Ferrari would want some protection from that possibility.
The rumor was set in serious motion when former team owner Eddie Jordan said it would happen. It seems that anything can happen in F1 and a return of schumacher would certianly place bums in seats as well as give Mercedes a serious chance for big sponsorship but in the end game, is this the best move for Schumacher?

Its on… Its off… It might happen… It wont happen…
I think if the rumours are true that MS would be saying “not going to happen” mainly because of the result/dissapointment from the Massa debacle.
As in years past, a denial is as good as an affirmative…..”Alonso signing with Ferrari” not gonna happen. Next day….yep, he’s signed.
This cat and mouse goes on in F1 more than any other sport.
Who was Donnington trying to fool? “We’ll be racing in 2010″. Opps…no we’re not.
I’ll believe it when I see it. When MS is IN the cockpit in (insert track name here), then he’ll be the driver.
I saw Johnathan Summerton tweeting that he heard from reliable sources that it is true. Sheesh. Enough already…as a Schumi fan I am inclined to say don’t. And stop the rumor mill please. Although he would be the perfect development guy to get the car ready for Vettel in two years time. :)
Schumacher needs to put on 30 kilos grow a beard and start sailing solo around the globe… Only then will these rumours stop.
For what it’s worth, Schumacher is no longer advising Ferrari f1 operations. He’s now only tied to the development of their road cars.
Thanks for the clarification Ron. That does add an additional element but then Merc Ferrari may not be too jazzed about that issue either. Time will tell.
Schumacher was always known as being a wonderful car/setup developer, so with in-season testing banned I can see why Ferrari are using his skills in the best area they can.
Does Michael Schumacher still have a super license? Or is it a never ending thing unless you stop paying your fees each year?
maybe it is gossip due to tha lack of news to write about; maybe it is too late for schumi to get back into the cockpit and have the pace to challenge for wins. nobody knows…only Schumi! If I were him, I would stay out of F1, write a book, have a movie and let the history as it is. There are too many unknowns and coming back is not a straight recipe to success
Question: Is that lady on the left of picture trying to do her best manga impression or is she taking a photo of herself for facebook?
That’s Sabine. I think she is telling a reporter they have two minutes or two questions. Or that she “wants her two dollars!”.
Sabine Schmitz? As in Top Gear fame? I didn’t recognise her. She should be in F1. :)
You are absolutely right… cute, smart and one heck of a driver. Any team got the balls to try her out?
Again off season rumours are better than some of the races.
