Update: Briatore ruling expected in early January

So far, the only big news to come out of Flavio Briatore’s appeal of his ban from FIA event, happening today in Paris, is when we can expect to hear an outcome: January 5.
Reuters is reporting that bit of news, but otherwise it just sums up all the details we’ve heard before.
I guess we can debate why it will take that long, who might be best served by the seemingly lengthy time frame and just who might have argued for it to be so long.
Perhaps the people most affected are Flav’s drivers, who can’t — as best as I can figure — bring him into any contract negotiations. Of course, his high-profile drivers are locked into contracts, so it may not be an issue.
Is Heikki Kovalainen one of them, though? This could hurt his attempts to find a drive.

Jean Todt could fix all this in one day…it was a ridiculous ruling that should be over turned under the guise of a post-Mosley fresh start for F1 if nothing else.
Considering the news that Flavio Briatore will not find out the decision of his appeal in French court regarding the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council ban leveled at him, I am wondering what happened? Considering that Briatore is/was friends with, Commercial rights boss, Bernie Ecclestone how is it that he was thrown out of F1 for life?
The two are joint owners in the QPR football club and have often been considered fast friends. Something changed when FOTA began rattling sabers and Briatore was announced as FOTA’s commercial director. Friendship with Ecclestone must have limits and it makes one wonder what exactly happened to their friendship?
