A press announcement had just been released by the national and local governments in Canada, confirming that the Canadian GP will be held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

The release confirms that the GP will be held on June 13, 2009, and that, monetarily, “the Government of Canada and Tourisme Montréal will each contribute $5 million of this amount. The Government of Québec will provide $4 million and Montréal will add $1 million. Montréal and its partners will in return receive 30% shares from ticket sales.”
Despite much back and forth between the Canadian government and F1 rights holder Bernie Eccelstone, the release suggests that the contract is for the next five years, guaranteeing a Canadian GP though 2015. Now, the only question mark left regarding the 2010 calendar is whether there will be a British GP and where it will be held.

Yup, that’s good news indeed.
Wrote a piece in the forum for those planning to come to Montréal next June.
Cheers.
We will be there and can’t wait to enjoy it. Really the trip to Montreal is the thing the overpriced racing fun will be secondary.
Finally yahoo!
Great! Time to start to figure out my finances.
On a related note, I’m wondering if the GP of Dubai is now safe for any longer than this year.
