JV out of Lotus running

Lotus team boss Tony Fernandes has put to rest speculation that former world champ Jacques Villeneuve will drive for the new team in 2010.
Jarno Trulli is on the team’s short list, however, as is Malaysian driver Fairuz Fauzy, according to a report by the BBC.
Fernandes said the team plans to announce its line-up by next week.
The big news, though, from my perspective, is Fernandes. This guy quickly is becoming the new “go to” guy for great quotes.
Earlier today, I posted a piece about the plan for all the teams to launch their 2010 cars simultaneously. The problem for Fernandes is his team might not have a car: “I won’t have a car at that time. I could come with a Matchbox car,” he said.
Great stuff.
And now, in this BBC report, Fernandes says that he has set his sights on beating the new Virgin Manor team.
And if he doesn’t?
“I said that number one we have to be ahead of Branson, otherwise I will retire and kill myself.”
By June 2010, Todd just may be referring to the “Tony Fernandes Bravado Award” at this rate.

Poor JV…well, not really.
Many bravado worhty comments right there….
I think JV was out of the running before he was IN the running.
Bring back Alex Yoong !!!
Oh no, that’s right, he’s already working there as their head of driver development.
Well, at least they’ve got MG. For now.
If they do not buy out the Toyota contract and instead buy that bumper-car nut-case Trulli – the good news will be that theya re at the back of the pace. Of cours,e that didn’t stop Trulli from hip-checking Kubi into the armco in Montreal… he’s a menace and NOT consistent.
