um…. Winston Churchill’s mother was from Brooklyn.

  2. and my neighbor is German so we’re even. ;)

I’m just sayin’ that maybe should offer ol’ Pete an apology… after all, his referencing Winnie was fine since he’s not only a Pooh but a half ‘Merican…. which seems to be a greater percentage than USF1 itself.

On the USF1 topic. Maybe USF1 meant they would be more open than other teams with fans once they are established and have all this team building stuff behind them. Hopefully once the season is in full swing than can start to work on those promises. I personally never expected them to work on those things right away when they have a team to build.

If you are on the Team USF1 page on facebook (its a fan one, not the official one) a person dropped by the USF1 HQ and the secretary told him the factory tours are suppose to start in Feb…so plan a trip to Charlotte!

Yeah i actually managed to listen to the whole thing. That’s the good about podcast. It’s like radio, you can actually listen while doing other staff. Although i haven’t listen to radio for a very long time. But then again they don’t talk about F1. And i also got to hear my post being “post of the week”, i think i feel a little taller, eat your heart out Button. You where voted second in all the prizes, in the European sportsman prize and in that BBC thing, while i got first. Yeah baby!!

Ok now lets get a little serious and comment on the staff you guys(and Grace) talked about. You said quite a lot of things so is kind of hard to remember everything i wanted to comment about but here i go.
I already said what i think about the green mentality in the other article so…

First the Rosberg thing. You know about him taking advantage of the opportunity and learning from Schumacher. If Nico does what you say then he will end up being another Barichello. Great drivers don’t sit back and try to learn from the other guy. They always do everything they can to kick the other guys butt.
Did Schumacher ever sit to learn from the more experienced drivers, did Senna,Hamilton or Alonso did such a thing? No. Because when you willingly start playing number 2 then that’s what you are gonna be for the rest of your career. A winner never compromises. If he just accepts second learning role then he will never do anything.

I completely agree with you on the USF1 thing. We make jokes about them because they seem like a bad joke, that’s the impression they give. No one decided to make fun of them for no reason. I mean for anyone who saw the interviews and heard what they were saying a few months ago they now seem like a bunch of big talkers. Btw believe it or not, there is a rumor that the team who wanted Ralf was actually USF1 because obviously Peter thinks better of him than the rest of us. And Ralf actually rejected the proposition because it didn’t meet his standards. If USF1 actually was the one who wanted Ralf and he turn them down, then they must really feel like shit right now so go easy on the guys. Being rejected by Ralf? Seriously? If even Ralf thinks you are not good enough for him then that’s pretty low.

Now you talked a lot about Nascar and F1 along with overtaking. Well first i want to say i can’t watch Nascar. I get bored as hell. They are just going round and round for God sakes. Just put some computer program in the cars to drive circles. And i agree with you in the passing. Nascar passing means nothing. You see so much car going by each other that it doesn’t mean anything anymore. While when two cars on F1 come close to each other and start a fight it’s something big. Also i want to say that it isn’t the pass it self that makes things exciting. Is the whole fight. If one car passes the other easily then that’s not very great, it’s more exciting if they battle for a few laps.(Ok 30 laps is a little too much).
The problem as you said is not the passing. There are many passes. As you also said no one pays attention the passing that happens beyond the first places. I’ll agree with Grace on this one, that the whole thing seems sometimes a little boring because of the pole sitter winning. Something must happen so that there is more fight on the track for the first place.
By coincidence i was watching some F1 races from 1990 the other day and i remembered how fun that year was(ok not so much for Mansel). The first position really changed hands up and forth during the race. And at that time they had only tyre stopping, like we will have next year. Maybe the tyre pit stops is a step in the right direction.

Oh and before i close. Bernie will never just die. His brain will be connected to a supercomputer and he will manage everything from a fortress while building a new artificial body. And led Christmas lights suck for the house tree. They are good only for outside decoration. Yeah i know it’s irrelevant but i had to say it.

In the U.K. we have no concept of this thingy: Apple-bees some sort of crunchy insect bite?

We DO have a chain of resteraunts called: Bernie Inn, ( I kid you not.)

Punters are tempted in with something prime but find themselves in a poorly lit and under resourced rip-off joint, trading from faded glory; but then you’ll be familiar with that concept.

  7. Great stuff, Todd!
Thank you for the speech on “green” issues…!
Love the redistribution of wealth diatribe and pointing out glaring hypocrisy.

Fuel conservation will always be a part of the mission undertaken by the engineers. The science is well past the point of “dump more fuel in there” thinking, and the mandate to reduce the dynamic mass that is a fuel load will always be a high priority… unless they make the cars weigh, say, 3,400# or more… This is a highly transferrable technological pursuit.

Maybe you SHOULD do a show on the “Smart Grid” during the Winter.

My formerly local Applebee’s in Madison, WI (East Towne) had (maybe they still do) a photo of Alan Kulkwicki and Davey Allison racing each other on the high banks of somewhere. I’m not sure anymore, but I think the picture might have gone up before they died. I guess that means it’s one of the best locations… or did they all do that for a while?
