OK, not the world’s biggest news, but Scottish driver Paul di Resta’s name was among those being bandied about for a race seat in 2010, so the news today from Force India that the team has signed him as its reserve driver narrows the would-be driver field a little.

Maybe that Formula 2 series is worth something after all.
Spanish driver Andy Soucek, testing at Jerez for Williams after claiming the F2 crown this year, led the pack after the first day of F1 testing.
Paul di Resta in a Force India was second fastest.

Highly rated Paul di Resta and some other guy will get a test run with Force India at Jerez on December 1-3. Di Resta and that other guys will both get a full run in a shared VJM02 as part of the Formula 1’s upcoming young driver test.
