According to Austrian publication, Krone.at, former Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger has broken his arm in a skiing accident. Apparently the Austrian was skiing off-piste and fell braking his arm and requiring surgery at St. John’s hospital.

This comes on the heels of Michael Schumacher’s tragic accident that has left the German in a coma since December 29th, 2013. Reports are that Berger is fine and has been released from hospital. You can read the full article here.

At this point, I think I would avoid skiing if I were a Formula 1 driver..for the time being.

The slopes are certainly not proving lucky for the racing fraternity this winter…

Attention, drivers and ex-drivers. Do me a big favor: Don’t go skiing. :-(

Can’t these drivers do something less dangerous? Like Russian roulette or go bar hoping with Adrian Sutil? You know, something with a lesser chance of them being scarred for life.

It’s a bit different in this context because Berger grew up in the Alps skiing as a child, it’s more of his lifestyle than just a side activity. But I think it’s a good idea to stop after this incident.
