It has been a long road for V8 Supercars to get to Austin Texas. The TEXAS 400 was announced back in June 2011 when a 5 year deal was signed to stage the event and both Austin and V8 Supercars have not looked back.

Teams, Drivers and Fans have been counting down the days to see how the cars will go around this amazing track. The elevation of the track has been the major talking point amongst the drivers as they have heard it is much like a roller coaster ride.

Ticket sales have been consistent and V8 Supercar organisers are predicting an 80,000 strong crowd over the weekend which will be a good start to the 5 year campaign.

For the Aussies heading over to Austin it is said that the atmosphere is much like Adelaide, with Pubs (bars), clubs and restaurants all buzzing with motor racing fever and for the American fans the cars will give you something to remember and talk about for a whole year.

It is very hard to explain just how much these cars are amazing to watch. To put it in a few words V8 Supercars is a cross between NASCAR and Formula 1. You get all the action from a NASCAR race but with all the technical set ups and cornering of Formula 1 car.

Red Bull Racing Australia has been dominating almost every weekend so far this season but Toll Holden Racing will be the dark horse of the weekend as James Courtney will have the edge over most of the drivers has he got the privilege to do a few hot laps around the circuit last month in a promotion day.

TEXAS 400 May 17th – 19th

Hi, I have been a Formula 1 fanatic since 1987 when my family took me to the Adelaide GP. I now enjoy close friendships with team members at Ferrari and within the Holden Racing Team (V8Supercars).
  • I hope I’ll be there too

I work with V8 Supercars here in the States, and am SO excited to be a part of history this weekend. I attended last year’s Grand Prix and the track is great. Looking forward to seeing some of my fellow racing fans there.

There’s some good videos – a “primer” on V8S, interviews, action – on COTA’s YouTube channel if you can’t be there. ;) http://www.youtube.com/user/CircuitAmericas?feature=watch
