And here we are. The final round of what has been a pretty great year in Formula One AND in the FBC Staff Picks Championship. After twenty rounds, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton have all but dominated the season, leaving just two wins for Max and Daniel to pick up along the way. But as we come this final race, each of our two Mercedes protagonists have each garnered nine victories. And much like the real thing, the staff championship has all but come down to a two horse race between Grace and Johnpierre.

Several staffers have held the lead this season, but these two have each made incredible comebacks after having led early in the year. The leaders are separated by just three points and have both gone with Lewis for the win, so if J.P. stands a chance of taking it all, he’s going to have to hope for some points from further down the field. Tony, who held the lead for several rounds until poor showings in the last two races dropped him back to third, still holds a chance and has gone with an alternate strategy to Grace and Johnpierre’s pick for the win. Along with Tom and Dave, Tony is hoping that Nico will seal the deal with an outright victory in Abu Dhabi. All other staffers, including Grace, J.P. and Todd in fourth, are counting on Lewis to win and possibly take his fourth WDC.

Most staffers are counting on a Merc One-Two, though Grace and Paul are foreseeing Vettel and Verstappen to take the second step of the podium respectively. Poor Jenson Button is getting three picks for First Out in his final Grand Prix…and that’s just mean! Palmer is getting two nods and one apiece go to Wherlein, Vettel and Gutierrez. Dave is taking the high road by picking both Jenson and Felipe to finish in the top six in their final races. That would be a wonderful finish to a couple of outstanding F1 careers. But whatever happens this weekend, it has definitely been an outstanding FBC Staff Championship.
