They say there is a first time for everything. Back in 1994 and then again in 1997, Michael Schumacher attempted to take out his title rival in an attempt to win the World Driver’s Championship. It worked the first time, but the second time, it did not. So when Vettel seemingly attempted the same thing on Sunday, possibly in a bid to keep his own title hopes alive, doing so was old hat and anything but a first.

But hey, I’m just speculating here, as I can’t say what was in Sebastien’s head when he drove left into Hamilton’s rear tire. BUT, what I do know in regards to firsts, is that we did indeed have a first here at FormulaBlog.Com.

The first lap encounter with our two championship contenders left us with one of those very odd finishing orders that usually happen in a rain race or one in which, maybe due to a first lap crash (ahem!), the usual suspects are relegated to finishing outside of their usual positions. And so, with the 2017 Mexican Grand Prix, for the first time in the seven year history of the FBC Staff Championship, not a single staffer scored a point. No one. Not even Paul.

But even so, with a twenty-six point lead, it will now be almost impossible for Todd or any other staffer to catch The International in the final two rounds of the year. However, never say never. We all made predictions this weekend and not a single one of those came true!

Another first this year/season was Renault squarely and hands down beating Honda in the un-reliability department.
